CAPcast: Breast Cancer Patients to Pathologists: What We Really Need in Our Test Reports
This CAPcast features an interview with a patient advocate, Maria Fowler. Ms. Fowler was initially diagnosed in 2012 with a rare form of breast cancer, called metaplastic breast cancer, which has a high rate of recurrence, and can be resistant to chemotherapy treatment. She is speaking out on some gaps in pathology reports for metaplastic breast cancer patients, based on her own experience. Ms. Fowler is also speaking out about the confusion many patients experience about the lack of agreement in the medical community about how to definitively classify subtypes of this cancer.
